Information current as of September 19, 2016

Let's be clear on one thing: Banpo Hangang Park is NOT a soccer park. That is, soccer is not the primary reason most people visit the park. The main draws are the Floating Islands and Banpo Bridge. With that being said, the soccer field provides a nice way to pass the time as you are waiting for nightfall when you can best enjoy the aforementioned attractions.

The Scouting Report

The soccer field at Banpo Hangang Park is located toward the northern end of the park, just beyond the basketball courts. There are basic facilities nearby--water fountain, benches, and some shade--that provide a little convenience when playing there.

The pitch isn't the greatest one in the world, but it is more than good enough for a fun game of soccer.

The majority of the field is primarily dirt, sand, and gravel. Grass can be found encroaching from the sides. Unfortunately, this encroachment hides any clear sideline marking.

If you don't want to play on the soccer field, move over to the nearby patch of green seen above. There aren't any goals, but it's never a bad idea to make goals for yourself.
